No start on a 95

Ok here's what's happening. When I turn the key to try and start it, the starter clicks like its trying to engage the flywheel but not turning over. All of my electronics quit when the key is turned. What is going on? Its got the 4.0 H.O. in it. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like a dead/low battery. Put a charger on the battery overnight. I'd suggest removing the terminals first and giving them a good wire brushing while your battery charges. If it won't charge after 8+ hours, you probably need a new one. Then, check your alternator. A simple volt meter on the battery should show close to 14 volts at idle. If you don't have a charger, volt meter etc, your local autozone or o'reilly will charge/check the battery for you. (carry it in) Once the battery is known good, they can test the alternator for you (on the car) Hope this helps :santa:

Just dropped a brand new battery in tonight and it does the same. I also tried shorting out the start to see if it would do anything. It engages the flywheel but doesn't rotate it. Could it be the nss or the ignition switch?

Do you know that your starter is good. autozone can check it but you have to pull it off and take it in

What do you mean it engages the flywheel? The click is just the solenoid clicking. If it wont spin even after you jump the solenoid, the starter is bad or you have a bad connection. Try hitting the starter and solenoid with a rubber mallet, or use a hammer but dont do it to hard. If it starts, your starter is bad.

A bad connection is my guess though. Check your starter wires and clean up your terminals.
