Help!!!

My son's cherokee classic '99 wont start. He went fast over a speed bump(as a dad I think very fast), said steering wheel locked up..stopped car, turned it off. Car wont start, no respose from voltage guage or fuel gauge. Parking brake light is on even though its off, park is the only gear that keeps car from rolling. All other gears allow car to roll forward and back. When key is turned to on position, electric fan now runs. Car cranks, but no spark or fuel (i think). Is there some sort of reset in cases of impact?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks

Woah Nice fault. Torwards the end it started to sound like he may have knocked the CPS loose. Check that connection. Back drivers side of the valve cover. There is only one connector back there might be the problem.

Not too sure though tell him to drive slower or you will kick his

Default checked cps

CPS connector is intact. Borrowed code tester from work. Pulled a P1694, (manufacturer controlled computer), PCM I assume. Fan runs constantly while key is in on position. I'm thinking it's dealer bound unless any insight....

Thanks again

See if the computer plug was jarred loose. And check the relays on the passenger inner fenderwell.

so the car cranks?? but is geting no fuel?? My money is on the Inertia fuel switch....I tripped it once on my mustang when doing a burn out. It should be some where in the 12V power system to the fuel pump.. Its meant to break the circuit and shut the pump off incase of a roll over.

Unless the later models have an inertia switch then I doubt that is it. I acknowledge I have not worked on a Jeep newer than a 96 but this code seems to point to a disruption of the ECUs signals.

Yeah I had one on a Bronco I had that was under the dash on the passenger side. Got rid of that vehicle when the timing belt went south on a trip. Good thing I didn't have the engine revving when it popped.

If that was a "interferance" motor that could have got costly real quick.

Default Inerta switch

Have found no indication that there is such a switch on this model. Traced fuel from tank to engine and read repair manual and no talk of an interrupt circuit. Car is not getting fuel (fuel pump not making usual noise). Checked all tranny elec. connections to engine /computer. Not sure how to check relays in engine compartment.

Love all the great insight though...keep it coming!!!

The relays are all the same so switch the fuel pump and the A/C ones and see if it makes a difference.

As I alluded to earlier I don't think that XJs have those rollover safety switches.
