No power.
 

I have 1999 Cherokee Sport. My daughter drives it most of the time. She comes in yesterday and says jeep won't start no power. Go out and there is no power at all. No lights no door chime nothing. I put the key in nothing. Dead dead dead. I pull the headlight knob and all the sudden I have power and can start the jeep. Everthing seems ok. Took the jeep to work and fine. Started fine when I went home, but half way home I get a warning light and my voltmeter is all the way over to the right. When I get home I shut if off and restart it. Everything is fine including voltmeter.

This afternoon I try and start it and nothing. No power at all. I jump start it and run it around the block a few times and everything is fine. Turn it off and try to restart it and nothing. All dead no power at all.

Any ideas?

Loose wires?

Vague, I know but Im no electrical engineer.

alternator? voltage regulator?

Turned out to be a loose battery cable. Cable looked fine, but when I wiggled it the light under the hood came on. Cleaned connections and put on nice and tight and all is well. Best of all it cost nothing.
