No interior lights on 98xj help!
Ok guys, need a bit of help for this one... My 98 xj wont turn on the interior lights when I pull the little stick whatever its called but the headlights do work same as red ones when I brake. Problem is I have tried like 3 different switches and same thing happens, all cables look ok, but the funny thing is that if I pull the stick just a bit up or down the interior lights turn on but when I try to turn the headlights they go off again.. and I dont think its a fuse cause they turn on.. Any ideas? Thanks

You turn the interior lights on by twisting it counter-clockwise till it clicks.

Could be the connection on the cluster.

So you're not getting map lights, dome lights, and dash lights? Is your dash working at all? Are the gauges operating?

Well not really meaning to revive a dead thread and to hijack it, but I am having this issue and haven't been able to fix it.(96xj)
My dash lights stay dark, and the lights for the drivetrain shifter (4hi,2hi,4lo stuff). The fuse is being blown, I have replaced #19 twice once with a 5 and then a 7.5amp and they last about a day and the lights work, then the fuse blows. I have removed the lower dash and was partly thru the bezel when I gave up. Any ideas where to look exactly? To me everything looks nice and clean, Could I just look up from under the dash after having the lower part removed and try and find the wires? I just really hate electrical issues and know very little about it. |
