no fuel pressure?
I have an 88' jeep cherokee with 4.0. My problem is with the fuel pump not pressurizing the fuel rail before start up. I have replaced the fuel pump, and it started up and ran perfect. :icon_cheesygrin: Now after several starts and stops, it doesnt start? :icon_sad: The engine spins but there is no pressure at the fuel rail? I know with most fuel injected fuel systems there is usually a relay that activates the pump, I haven't checked it yet, as I can't turn the key and listen to the relay to see if it's "clicking". Any help/guidance would be much appreciated!! Thanks for your help!!

may also be fuel filter clogged.
or bad fuel in the tank ruining your pumps. or bad relay. if the filter hasnt been replaced in awhile id start with that. then if that didnt do it id check my relay. |
The pump should run for a couple seconds when you first turn the key on. When I replaced my fuel pump I got a bad new just thought I would throw that in there.

I had good fuel on the discharge side of the filter when I replaced the pump. I drove/started the jeep several times since replacing the pump, now the pump doesn't seem to be running when the key is turned on? Think I'm going to investigate the relay..

There is a ballist resistor on the driver side fenderwell under the hood, bypass that resistor and see if the problem is solved.
