2001 Jeep Cherokee.
When I turn the key to the on position, before starting the engine, No warning lights come on. I am getting my Jeep inspected, and it won't pass if these lights don't turn on at all. Right now, the engine light should be on, because a code is being thrown for P432 (small vapor leak). I'm trying to find how to find out why the lights aren't coming on....either a wiring problem or a fuse. I'd appreciate any insight on how I can get the dash warning lights to appear when the key gets turned on. Thank you in advance for your help.

For starters I think you mean a P0432. And if so that is not an evap leak but a catalytic converter code. And since you own a '01 I am thinking it is your front dual mini cat off the exhaust manifold that needs to be replaced. There are things that could be causing this code but chances are it is the cat. How do I know? Because I own a CA Emissions '00 and went through the same thing. Ruled out all the other suspects best I could, replaced the cat, and all was fine.

As far as the dash lights go I don't have any answers. But do all the gauges work when running?
