Ok guys and gals. Very puzzled on this one, my 96 xj is not cranking. It has had a bad battery for a while and I tried to jump it off but it's like it has no power to jump it off even though the gauge says it has normal volts. It's almost like the starter is just barley turning enough to hear it struggling. Don't know what's going on, tried switching batteries but same problem except now the fuel pump won't even come on. Please help I am stumped

Make sure battery cables are tight on the battery....Make sure that there is not any corrosion on the battery cables if there is make sure to clean it up with a wire brush and see if there is damage to the cable...See if you have power going to the starter...Also check your ground wires, make sure they are not damaged and secured tight

Could be the starter itself. I would remove it and take it to Advance or Autozone and have them test it...
