Default New Tranny Mount Too Soft?

Hey guys,

'96 4.0 manual. Replaced the motor mounts and the "transmission support cushion" as the service manual calls it. Went with the DEA A2625. Got it buttoned up the other day but haven't driven it much until today, and there is a knocking when I'm going over bumps in the road, sounds like it could be the exhaust knocking something but that mount is in good shape and wasn't adjusted during this install.

The t-case and tranny definitely have some up and down play, I can move them around with a push from one hand and see the support cushion rubber compressing/expanding. Im wondering if the mount I put in is too soft, because I did not hear this knock with the old mount, although I can't say if the play was there before.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this knocking from under the center console, and if it's normal to be able to nudge the tranny/t-case around so easily by hand.

The rubber is too soft or something is loose if you can move the transmission or transfer case by hand.

If the DEA mount is anything like the anchor, it's junk. Either buy a MOPAR one, or get a StinkyFab transmission mount

x2 Folks say the Napa one is acceptable, but I haven't tried it myself - partsgeek has the mopar one for under 50 bucks as of last week.

I had issues with the Anchor brand on mine and went with a $60 Crown mount the second time, I've had no issues with the Crown mount.

Anchor trans mounts don't work (they skimp on the metal, rubber, and general design). I had to replace 4 days later with Mopar.

Basically aftermarket mounts are going to cut metal, rubber, and corners to save money. So I'm sure there are a variety of brands that are insufficient. The Mopar was fine, and its been repeated on here that the Napa variant is fine.

ill throw in my opinion- OEM mount or nothing. had the anchor for around 300mi and junked it cause of the amount of noise it caused. the amount of rubber they used is nowhere near what the OEM mount has. it caused the exhaust to knock and rattle on every take off, at idle, etc. threw in a new OEM Mount and the jeep drove and idled so smooth afterwards.
