New Suspension On - Installed out of sequence?
 

So I have had put on by a friend the following items on my 95:

- New Front Shocks
- New Front Springs
- New Adjustable Track Bar
- New Rear Leafs (Heavy Duty)
- New Rear Shackles
- New Rear Shocks

When he was putting the rear parts in, he jacked up the rear end really high (while the car was on jack stands), and tightened all the bolts. I've had squeaking coming from the back end since then. Yes, he greased up all the new bushings. I thought you had to tighten everything down when the car is on the ground with wheels on. Could it be that he tightened it down when the rear was too high up? With the car on the ground on the wheels, should I just loosen all the bolts then re-tighten them?

What kind of bushings did you use? Polyurethane or OEM rubber replacements?

Poly gets grease, rubber does not.

Yes, you will need to loosen all of the bolts and tighten with the vehicle on the ground so that the suspension is sitting at it's normal ride height. Then torque all fasteners to factory spec. For extra points, try to have 1/2 a tank of gas also.

Okay, so I loosened the bolts at both ends of the rear leafs, lowered the car on the ground and re-tightened. Still getting some noise. I am thinking I should loosen the shackle bolts too. Also, should I loosen the U joint bolts too while doing this?

Also, I replaced the steering stabilizer and still getting some wobble at 55mph (not under, and it goes away around 65mph).

Did you get an alignment? When I did, they shimmed my caster a bit extra and it has driven great ever since.

I got an alignment after the work was done yes. Seemed within spec and it did help some. Also recently got new tires put on and rebalanced and it still wobbles around 55mph. Also, one of my front sway bar bushing brackets had a bolt stripped so its only holding on by 1 bolt. Wondering if that could cause some vibration...

Probably not. More than likely, your vibration is from u-joints that have happily been spinning in one position for a while, and have now been shifted a bit. They may settle down some on their own, or they may need to be replaced. Mine were recently new before the springs, and took about 100 miles to smooth out.

The squeaking is probably from your new leaf springs. Pick up something like Fluid Film (you can get it a lowes now were they sell wd-40 and that type of stuff). Then drench those springs, top, bottom, and along the sides to get the oil between the leafs. You could probably use any penetrating oil, but they will dry out fast and start squeaking again. Fluid Film will lubricate those springs for a good long while. (Don't spray petroleum based penetrating oils on your rubber or poly bushings, if you get Fluid Film, you can spray it on rubber and plastic without harm).
