Default New problem after going to mechanic

hey guys new poster here! but long time lurker. I just purchased my new 99 XJ a few weeks ago with 125k on it. it was running great but had the usual leak issues. So I went to the mechanic and got the rear main seal, oil pan gasket and the valve cover gasket done the day before yesterday. now to the issue. I noticed since I got it back that the car shifts gear at higher rpms (around low to mid 3's) and also feels like it takes longer to shift. compared to when I first got it, the shift was very fast and I also notice there's now a slight shake when Im stopped at stop light. It also if feels like my flow-master exhaust feels like it makes a different sound compared to before. im gonna take it back tomorrow to see what the issue is. could it the Throttle position censor needs to be changed now? any feedback would be helpful! Thanks again and looking forward to being in XJ community!

Welcome to CF..

For the shifting funny, try this in the vid..It might be out of adjustment when he did the Valve cover gasket.

The sounding different exhaust I have no clue.

Cool,,When you do that in the vid, it will fix your shifting. Have the mechanic check the trans mount and motor mounts. They might be old and need to be replaced..
Good luck

If it was an older Jeep, I'd say he knocked a vacuum hose loose. I don't have much experience with the later 4.0s, but it's worth a look.

IT WORKED! just like you said duma. did the procedure in vid and did a quick spin around my neighbor had and it shifted exactly like how was when I bought it. Also the muffler now sounds back to normal as well, so I guess a 2 birds with one stone so to say. thanks again!
