New Member Need help with pinion & caster angle
I lifted my xj to 8" of lift and now my pinion and caster angle sucks. If i adj my control arms to get the pinion angle right i lose all of the caster. Pinion angle now is 2 degrease and caster sucks at - 5 degrease. How can i get the caster back at + 6 degrease without changing the pinion angle???

Come on guys i know someone has ran into this problem :help:
|
Cut the inner C's off the axle tubes and reweld to obtain the correct caster with the desired pinion angle.
|
caster takes prioroty over pinion angle
once you get that high you will start having issues like said you need to turn your knuckles. you can get adjustable ball joints as well, but strength might be an issue with that. |
Thanks for the info guys. Looks like i will be grinding off the knuckles and turning them. Crap thats going to be a lot of work. Could i also try running a front DS with CV joints on both ends??? I have never heard of any one doing this but it would be easyer than turning the dang knuckles.

A suggestion for you, assuming this is a DD as well as a trail rig.
Remove the front driveshaft and set the caster to within factory specs. Get another HP D30 housing and clock the inner C's. Once complete, deliver the axle to your mechanic along with the carrier and Ring/Pinion. (He won't need the knuckles or shafts) Swap the "new" axle for the old one. |
