New Leaf bolts slightly too big

I bought these off RoackAuto,

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...55&jsn=8&jsn=8

went to install my new leafs, found that they were a millimeter or 2 on the big side... there was slack/play around the axle.
My friend, the auto mechanic, said, hey, I don't like the fit. We're putting the old bolts back on...
RockAuto wanted to call B***S*** on that, but agreed to take them back.
Before I send them back ($7.50 shipping), do you guys think they're the right size or not...? IOW, after being torqued down, would the slack basically become non-existent; or was my mechanic right?
:dunno:

From my build sheet:
DRJP 175MM Rear Axle

Dont know what axle you have, but D35 u-bolts should measure 2 5/8" (2.625"), and 8.25 u-bolts should measure 3".

Just found this on another forum.

D35 = 2.62 inches
D44 = 2.75 inches
8.25 = 3 inches

they are listed for 84-01 XJ but like fb97 said the d35 is around 2.60 inches while your u-bolts are 2.75 (3/4).

edit: it's weird because most sites sell 2" 3/4 u bolts for the dana 35, checked a couple sites and it's all the same. I have a 8.25 so I can't help much, but they probably tighten once you torque them properly. based on the price and since you have to pay to send them back might aswell give them a try?

Thanks, at least I now know that it wasn't me. It was them. And they were trying to say that they fit, whereas, like you say, and like I'm seeing with my own eyes, they're a little too big.

Makes sense to torque them down and then see if there's any evidence of movement on the axle or on the spring after a short test-drive...

Rock 4 u-bolts were $22.
You're Amazon examples are at $40.
So I at least have that going for me.
