So I'm kinda bored right now and thinking about going out and trying to work on the XJ. Here's my question: I've seen people who have created there own cone style air intake. Unless you get a sheild and such its not a cold air intake right? Anyone know of any write ups on this? Would I benefit at all from putting in a k&n air filter into the stock airbox? Or is there no benefit to it? Can I just take the airbox off and attach a cone air filter on there?

 

I would just get a kn filter replacment. Adding a cone filter with or without a heat shield makes the filter more easily contaminated by dust or water.

 

is there any reason to pay the extra for k&n?

 

Not unless you just have to have the sticker.

A paper drop in will flow enough air to keep the 4.0 happy.

 

Its reuseable and allows more airflow but nothing to bragg about.

 

If anyone wants the sticker send me an envelope I have thousands in white or black writing....I was a dealer.
