New Gears for my XJ soon to be on 33's
Well for the past few month's I've been piecing together parts I'll be needing to lift my XJ to 4.5 inches and slap some 33's on it. About now I'm on the re-gearing part of the project and I've been searching for prices and the like on new gear sets.
What do you guys think about getting 4.10's instead of the more common 4.56/4.88? I was thinking it would be a good way to save money since 4.10 was a factory ratio and I found a junkyard quoting me $80 for a used 4.10 ring and pinion and someone on here asking $70. The junkyard couldn't find any straight cut 4.10s for my LPD30 but they are only $189 brand new, (and if I can find some used ill definitely go ahead and order them instead) still less than the $295 for the 8.25 gears. Ill need a new carrier for my D30 but those are fairly reasonable as well.
Even still the final drive ratio after the regear will be a little less less than my current 31's on 3.55's which I don't find piggy at all, also I've been asking around at the same junkyard for a high mileage 4.0, which I've been toying with the idea of rebuilding and stroking out to a 4.6 to drop in at some point in the future. And I also NEVER plan on moving up to 35's so that isn't an issue.
Just wondering if anyone else has any ideas about how this setup is going to work for me, I feel as if it will be adequate but hey, maybe it will end up regretting the decision, so if anyone has any experience with this setup it would be great to hear from you before I go ahead ordering any parts.

I've talked to quite a few guys running 33's with stock 3.55 gears and they say it drives fine so I would think 4.10s would be alright, but 4.56 would put back to about stock gearing which I think would be better in the long run. Plus, if you do throw a stroker in it later, the 4.56's would probably hold up better. I would shell out the little bit extra now for the 4.56's.
