Need a steering stabilizer
 

After the lift, and wheeling this thing took a toll on the stabilizer bracket. The stock bracket by the passenger spring mount with the 3 bolts is bent. What would be the best way to mount a stablizer back on? I could try heating it and hitting it but it's not the best way and it's tight in there. Is there another kit out there?

Thanks I'll check them out. I got the "Death Wobble" at I think 35-40 and I thought it was the Bias and beadlocks. Turns out that one good reason is there's NO stabilizer on the rig I just bought lol. It was only a trail rig and he drove it 5 miles to work so he never got over 35, and I know why.

Thanks guys, I'll do more searching. Is there by any chance a place to buy one mount? I have a stablizer bracket for the bar and the shock, just the stock one but the other mounts bent up. If I could buy a bracket for the diff cover and mount the stablizer the other way?

i would say you have more than just a stabilizer problem.....stabilizers just put a bandaid over steering, tire, and suspension problems. i run 37 inch mtrs on a 8'' short arm lift with no stabilizer (my dd btw), and have no death wobble. when i had 39.5x15x15 tsl bias on it i had MAD death wobble!! went away after changing the tires.


i would strongly lean towards it being your bias/beadlock combo. not saying it is but i would see if you can borrow someone elses tires to test my theory.

I have some 38.5 TSL's on aluminum wheels on my K5, but couldn't find the stupid wheel lock lol. I have no doubt it's the bias and beadlocks but just thought the stablizer would be a good idea. I start with tires first. I can stick my head out and see the tires going crazy lol. I thought the tires were going to fly off.

lol....had this prob too many times, so i know what you mean!! the stabilizer may help a little, but i doubt it will "cure" it.

put ram assist on that beast and it will be gone for sure!!! can be done for around $130 from a tractor supply house

Ram assist?? Anything that will cure this, weither it be minus the beadlocks and bias tires or this. I just fear that at any moment this things going to throw me out lol.

you will need two lines, a ram with heim joints, tabs for mounting the ram, and will have to drill and tap your stock steering box for the lines to go into. if you search on pirate4x4.com, you can find all kinds of info on this........thats how i did it on my last cherokee. also gives one finger turning offroad, which if you have a front locker you know what a pain turning in 4x4 with no ram assist is.

Yea, I got on that site already. Doesn't look too hard. You drill two holes. I'll need to look more into that and see what all I need.

yeah just make sure the holes are in the right spot. and make sure your mounting points are in double sheer or it WILL rip off!!!

steering stabilizer will only mask the true issue

it went off with the stock steering a long time ago, never had one since
