We changed the two batteries in the factory keyless remote and still nothing. Now what? I thought maybe the factory remote needed to be re-programmed after changing the batteries but i find no information regarding such a procedure. What do you all do in a case like this? Thank you.

P.S. The remote calls for lithium batteries (two) CR 2032 but we found 2016's inside. The (wrong) 2016's had been working for a long time until now.

Just found a thread stating that only the dealer can program the keyless remote with a special scan tool. However, that still does not tell me what went wrong with my original remote, anyone repair theirs? I looked inside with a magnifying glass and everything looked intact.

Did you install the battery right ? and make sure that the batteries are making contact inside the remote .

Someone else installed the batteries. So I double checked to make sure both were sitting with the positive terminal side up (as it's marked inside the battery compartment). That's about all I can do for now, thank you.

If you do need to get it reprogrammed, take it to a locksmith instead of a dealer. They will charge 1/3 the price of the dealer, at least in my experience.
