Need new radiator plug. Pic included.
I broke the tabs off my radiator drain plug when I was flushing the radiator. It was before I came on here and read that everyone recommends flushing through the lower radiator hose. The plug is also all pitted and brittle, so I want to replace it even though I got it to go back in for now. The one that all the parts stores keep trying to sell me doesn't match.
In the pic my current drain plug is the white one in the middle. The one still in the package didn't even have the same threads so I didn't open it. The opened one from NAPA wasn't listed for my vehicle but looked close so I bought it anyway. I wasn't able to test it because the wing-tabs are too big to turn it. I'm consider shaving down the tabs but I'm also concerned that it might be a tiny bit narrower than my original (I need a caliper style micrometer to measure it).
So my questions are:
Is the stock radiator plug white or do I possibly have a replaced radiator in my XJ?
Does anyone know where to get this style plug or a part number?
Side note, what would cause my plug to become all pitted and porous? Could battery acid have leaked while offroading? It was not like that earlier in the summer when I had it out then.
Thanks!

it may have a aftermarket radiator, but your old plug will be fine if you can get it back in and tight the part that makes the seal looks good still just put it back in and don't mess with it

My advise is as long as it's not leaking now, just make like it doesn't exist! Forget it's even there and go on with life. Worry about it when you replace the radiator. You'll get a new one then. BUT that's my opinion.
