need help xj ax-15 swapped for a aw-4
Hello im pretty new to this site. I need some help. I have a 96 cherokee with a ax-15 and just bought a 89 cherokee with aw-4 auto from a friend to use as a doner to swap out parts when I need them. Which was a good buy cause it had alot of aftermarket goodies on it and i'll swapp all those out later. But my question is I want to pull my manual out and swap in the auto. Is it going to be a hard swap? Am I going to need anyrhing else to do the swap? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanx. My name is Tony by the way.

Would really appreciate it if anyone had any advice or info on this. I'll be starting this swap this weekend and could really use the help. Thanx again. The more info or help I can get the sooner my jeep will be back on the road.

I already have a full doner cherokee to do the swap. Just need to know how hard the swap is going to be and if I need anything else to do it? And ya to bad cause I live in Virginia.

now if you run into problems in the middle of the swap and this write up can't help I'm sure some of the guys on here will help you out.

Hey thanx for the thread. I did search google but that one wasn't the first one that popped up when I did the search. There were some others though that I did read but none were threads for swapping a aw-4 on a xj. The ones I saw were for a yj and tj. Didnt now that it would be the same for the xj.

it should be close to the same process. anything different you will be able to figure out if you are mechanically inclined enough pull the trans.
good luck and let us know how it turns out.
