No. Poor maintenance did. Aw4 are known to last 200k miles

Ah well. Now we got any potential Trans issues cleared out, let's focus on idle

 

thanks for all the response and i have been frequently checking the motor oil and the transmission oil. i haven't bothered smelling them and i plan on changing the engine oil sooner than later. also the tranny doesn't slip. i haven't tried 4 high or low but i will later today. when the car shifts it shifts great. its just when i start the car up. ill get the transmission fluid changed in the next week and see if that works.

 

Factory recommended 30,000 for regular service, 15,000 for heavy/severe service..........

 

Rough idle when you put it in gear and the not kicking in right away is what flags it as a tranny problem for me. Granted I do not have (never had) an AW4, but have had many autos in the past.
A out of adjustment kickdown cable could be a part of it(too tite)? Maybe just some sticking valving(try a bottle of "motor purr" good product for what it does for transmissions.
But to me it sounds all tranny, could be anything...pump going out, bad torque convertor, sticking valve body?

 

I had this problem last week. Rough Idling, not responding well to gas pedal, stalling out. I ran some fuel injector cleaner through it and replaced my o2 Sensor and it runs like a charm.
