If not, Im going to have to swallow my pride and rent a dolly so my buddy can tow me home in his 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins... Thanks for all the help everyone. Ill keep you guys up to date on how its going tomorrow after I tinker with the CPS and possibly the fuel pump.

By the way, thanks for reminding me about that TP sensor adjustment Overland. Even though it isnt running well now, that TPS was way off of .830...

Wish me luck tomorrow!

Well tested the CPS, and it had 240 ohms after a good warm up.

I'm going to test the MAT and the CTS now, and that pretty much covers most of the sensors I know and could thing of.

Well, have you checked the fuel pressure, I was reading a skimming along. Fuel pressure will let it idle fine but if you dont have enough it will run down the road like a fat kid doing a 5k.

Nice! That was pretty funny with the whole fat kid running a 5k. I'm going to the Rip off zone aka "autozone" right now to get this Actron fuel pressure tester... $50 more... Oh well. I'll post more when I test the fuel pressure.

Well I did a pressure test tonight when the problem was present and at WOT the fuel pressure in the rail drops to 0 PSI. Which would explain why the engine basically falls flat on it's face after 2500 RPM's. Tomorrow morning I'm going to pull the pump out of the tank and check it out. If I have to replace the electric pump itself, I think after hearing all the good things about a Bosch pump that I'm going to go with one of those. To be continued...

ummmmmmm...........

before you drop tank and pull pump etc etc etc.......you put a new fuel filter on it yet? then test pressure?

oh yeah and orient fuel filter correctly? I messed up once n put on b-wards....not so good for fuel pressure to injector rail i can tell ya.

just a idea.

if it works, then you saved mucho time and effort. if not, well at least you have a new fuel filter!

Going down to 0psi, that would do the trick. Before you pull the tank, not saying that isn't a bad idea just that you the person that owed it treated it worse then a Honda. If you live in the frozen north you could have water in the tank or the pump is bad. I have seen fuel filters clog but never seen them drop to 0psi. A bend/clogged fuel line would give pressure and when you use that pressure it will drop down but not go to 0 at wot.

Need to edit, you are in CA, if your temp drops enough to freeze your tank, sir you have more problems then that. With that being said a 22 year old pump is suspect.

Replaced the fuel pump and it at least runs now... Consistently! There is so much wrong with this thing, I don't even know where to begin.
