Question Need help with 90 Cherokee running lights not working

I had an aftermarket stereo installed and realized that night that the dash lights were not working. After reseaching I found a post on here that said to splice the dimmer and illumination wires together and it worked, but now the running lights keep popping their fuse. They stay on for a couple of seconds, but then it pops. I looked and found that the fuse panel calls for a 15 amp fuse, but there was a 10 amp in the slot. Could this be the problem? Or could it be more messed up wires? Any help would be appreciated! This thing is making me nuts. I have already torn the whole thing apart and put it back together twice...

put a 15 amp fuse in. A 10 amp is to small. And if it keeps poping anyway something is grounding out.

Make sure they didn't hook the illumination lights wire up to ground or amp/antenna turn on on the radio...Tj
