Default need help!

i woke up one day and my jeep would not start, took me awhile to figure out that it was the alternator that had went bad. this was my 4th time replacing it in less that 6 months. before hand my dad wash down the engine really well. we got the car put back togather after putting the alternator in. started the jeep up, seemed to be working just fine, til i took it for a test drive, and noticed it would not shift out of first gear. i replaced all the relays. checked all the vacuum lines, and checked for any other parts that could be loose parts. so if you have any idea about getting it to shift it would be great!

What year is it? I had the same problem and turned out where the wiring harness that plugs into the fuse box on the driver side under the hood had bad conections.
