Need advice on choosing shocks for towing

Well currently my rear springs are toast. I got about 16" from hub to fender, not good at all. I tow my boat which is about 1500lbs quite often during the summer and I need advice on new shocks. I'm first going to order a pair of HD leaf springs from QT. My rear shocks are currently 183,000 miles old. I dont wanna spend a fortune since my vehicle is a DD and no plans on going higher than the 1" that the rear leafs will give me. I live in Maine where the roads are notoriously uneven and potholes everywhere. Anyone reccomend the Bilstein 4600? Rancho RS5000?

Have u looked at the Monroe Sensa-Trac load adjusting shock? They have a coil spring on the outside for extra load/less sag.

Yup X2 on the Monroe Sensitrac Load Adjust, will handle that tongue weight on the hitch, targetted at an extra 400lb by Monroe. Google the Monroe site.

Normal shocks don't carry weight, they only dampen the springs. Air shocks and coilover shocks will assist with load carrying, but plain ol' replacement shocks will do nothing for weight.

Thanks guys. Looks like the Monore load shocks would be ideal. I already have the sensa-tracs up front. I really didn't want to purchase 4 new shocks. glad to see that those load shocks are what exactly what I need.
