clutch fan not locking up when hot. stays cool when moving but temp goes up quick when idling. turned off truck at 210 and fan will turn free should it still be locked up till cool. have checked autozone and oreilly and they sell part for $36 have heard some of these are liquid filled instead of spring operated also a/c was working good now very poor.

 

Im having the same problem. I have a '90 and my fan cuts on when I run the a/c even though its not blowing cold air anymore and the fan aint cutting on when it hits 210 like its suppossed to. let me know if you find anything out

 

Yes, all symptoms that your fan clutch is dead. Replace it; SUPER easy. Should fix your problem. As for the e-fan not working, check the relays and fuses, then check the coolant temp sensor. Then check the e-fan.

 

changed fan clutch today, let idle till temp came up never reached 210. one problem fixed. Thanks guys
