Try putting it in neutral and starting it. If not, maybe giving the starter a couple of raps with a hammer will get ya going.

So I pulled spark plugs today and they looked fine and I tried to turn it over and still had the same problem. Then I cleaned up the grounds again and gave it a shot and still nothing. The I jumped the starter and I could just hear the fuel spray. So does this mean I need a new starter. Or should I go with something else.

One of the FIRST things you do to troubleshoot a non start problem is turn the headlights on and hit the key.

If there are dim / no headlights, troubleshoot no voltage.
If the lights com on bright and don't change AT ALL when the key is turned, ignitioon switch and circuit
If the lights are on strong but dim mildly when in start position, start looking at starter or solenoid circuit
If the lights are on strong but dim heavily, suspect starter or engine unable to be turned over.
If the lights are on strong but go out when in start position, and particularly if they don't come back on, suspect battery connections.

These are just rules of thumb to get you started, but should be able to point you in the right direction.

I wacked the starter with a hammer and it tried to turn over. The local pick n pull only had like 5 XJ's and they were all missing starter's. So I got a new one tried it and it fried right up. I bet it liked all the new wires too.
