01 Cherokee Sport

A couple of months ago I got my XJ a little deep in the river. I've got everything working again but I have an airbag light. I have been digging around on the net and most info out there points to the clock spring. It seems like with the clock spring though you usually loose cruise control and the horn.

In my case, the cruise light on the dash comes on but it won't engage when you press the SET button but the horn does work fine. When it got wet the horn blew constantly until I unplugged them under the bumper. After of few days it went back to working correctly.

Is there anything else that in inline with the cruise and airbag that could influence this? I don't want to buy a new clockspring if there is something else I need to check first.

The Airbag Module is under the center console. Did the water get high enough to get in the console?

Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal and wait 5 minutes before working around the airbag system.

 

Yes, it did get get that high. I look into that. Cruise maybe a separate issue.
