My Busted Jeep

I have 1990 Jeep Cherokee and I have water in the oil. I drained the oil and added new one but I didnt see any water. I only see water in the dip stick. Does any one have any ideals of what it may be??? I also see a milk gunk when i pull out the dipstick. Any Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Juan

sounds like a cracked head or a blown head gasket the water could be from the 50/50 mix of your coolant leaking into the engine and the milkyness thats usually what it looks like when you blow a gasket

Most likley a bad gasket..Usually there is a reason the gasket went bad( cracked head or warped head). You could be lucky and only have a bad gasket but make sure you have the head looked at.

Good luck to you:popcorn:

do a compression test first before you do any thing else if it is the gasket there will be low and uneven pressure if it is the gasket. most likely it is the gasket though. check the head and have the head milled before you put it back on it it is warped

I,ve seen your problem on other xj's If you have worked it harder than normal, and the humidity is high, what you are seeing is condensation-you will also see it on the bottom of your filler plug. Since you say that you have just changed the oil,run it till it gets warm and check your oil . If its just condensation you wont have water in your oil. Dont overdo it with driving too many miles, because if it is just a blown gasket it is a cheap fix compared to a cracked head and or block! If the milkey oil persists than stop driving it and start wrenching.

I would say that your head is cracked from getting to cold and busting.

Head gasket is my best guess. Or a cracked water journal in the head. Hope for the first.

do a compression test first... but i would also say head gasket. if may be a cracked head too. does the jeep smoke any?
