Default mufflers

hi i want to give my xj a nice deep tone, something that sounds the most like a v 8. any suggestions on after market mufflers. i was thinking about a flowmaster supper 40. thanks

There will be a LOT of advise on what to use for a muffler but it is really your choice. Go to www.youtube.com and listen to what YOU like. I use a cherrybomb myself and love it...Tj

i have the flowmaster super 40 and really like it i run these mufflers on my mustang also they are tuff as hell take a beating and sound good

swap in a chevy 350....I have yet to hear a stock 4.0 that sounds like a V-8

Will a 350 fit in a cherokee??? I suppose i twill since you are suggesting it, but isnt a 350 a bit big?

Flowmaster Super 40 with a turn down! It'll sound as close to a V8 as you can get out of the 4.0

^^^^^^^^^^ And yes you can swap a SBC 350 in but you have to do some pretty major unibody stiffening!

your not gonna get a v8 tone but a Flowmaster 40 sounds deep and rich i use a thrush turbo dump out the muffler and it sounds great for 20 bucks lol

I got a 2.5" Magnaflow with the 14" body. It is NOT very loud at all. I'm not too sure I like it yet...

I wanted the Flowmaster, but I was concerned it would be too loud. Kind of wish I got the Flowmaster.

I have always used cherry bombs have always has goodluck with them and are easy to put on.

^ X2. I run a cherry bomb glass pack with 2.5in exhaust tubing from cat back and it sounds great! If you want it even deeper get a highflow cat.(My next investment )

I have Flowmaster 40 and hate it. Has OK sound outside, but resonance in the cap is deafening and annoying. I will be changing to something else shortly, want high flow, without all the cabin noise.
