Question Mudguards and rear bumper removal

Hi guys!
My Jeep ('98 XJ) recently had a small incident with a hedge, which has damaged the right hand side rear bumper end cap, and kind of bent that end of the bumper in a bit.
It looks like the right hand bumper mount is also a little bent too, although thankfully my tow bar took most of the impact, and hasn't moved an inch.

I've ordered an entire rear bumper with both end caps included, in the same colour, from a scrapyard, and they threw in the bumper mounts for me too.

Now, my current end caps have factory mudflaps attached to them, and as I'm keeping this Jeep stock I want to transfer them over to the new ones.

These are my two questions:
Is there anything I really need to look out for when changing the bumper and end caps, or is it simply a bolt-off, bolt- on job? Would you recommend taking the bumper off, then the mounts, or just go right ahead and take the mounts off with the bumper still attached?

My main question though, is how do the mudguards attach? Will I have to drill new holes in the end caps, or are the holes already there? My new parts haven't arrived yet, so I can't go look at them, and I'd like to know so I can get the stuff ready for when they do arrive!
