Motor Mounts?motor swap

Im about to change may motor out. my 4.0 blew and im getting everything together to put in a new motor. Im trying to get everything together that I need. Its a 97 auto. Im looking at getting as much stuff done at once while the jeep is in the garage. Im looking for a used header, and the stuff to do a 99 intake. So im trying to look at what else will be easier right now.

So im looking into motor mounts, first off is there any company that makes solid mounts? what about switching to a raised mount? what else needs to be done to put a higher mount in, or is it just a direct bolt in? the pros greatly outweigh the cons for a stiff as possible mount, but Im not sure about the higher mounts, as there is not a lot of info online about them.

also anything else you can think of. Im looking for a used aftermarket header to coat and wrap, a 99 intake that will also be coated, a full exhaust, a snorkel/air intake, Oh and im also looking at deleting the clutch fan.

they dont make a solid steel mount but there are several HD poly mounts available. No need for raised mounts.

have you looked into upgrading your ignition? either MSD or this...

also doing an injector upgrade and getting a bored TB will help...

well right now im looking into things that are more difficult with the motor installed. right now i have a brand new ignition, oem , but new. If I have the time, Im goin to try to pull the valve cover and oil pan, and paint them.

why do they make raised mounts if there are no pros to them?

for the price of a tb,and ignition, I can just get a 50 shot of N20, but thats not what i need to worry about right now.

what about pulling the fan? can it be completely removed or is unbolting the fan blades good enough?

no other opinions on raised mounts?

im not doing a conversion, and I dont need a place to buy mounts. I have a blown 4.0 and im putting in another 4.0 my question is the use of raised mounts. they fit the same use, but are taller than oem mounts.

How many miles was on it when it blew

mountaineerjeff 01-08-2011 06:17 PM

only 130.
after thinking about it more, what about an alternator? higher output from a GC, but what about relocation? my AC works but im thinking bout changin to OBA. I originally wanted to wait for the AC to go bad, but if I got it all apart I might get it done now, then I could fully delete it much easier.

chief1988 01-08-2011 10:05 PM

I figured it have like 350,000 being a 4.0 lol.

mountaineerjeff 01-09-2011 02:04 AM

yea thats why I said only. it really sucks that it blew. the jeep was so solid.

napa has a AC elimination pully you bolt in to replace the original ac allowing the pully to flow better and getting 15+ pounds off the engine. $10 plus shipping i think

well I dont think I would do an all out ac delete, I would just convert my good ac to OBA, is there any info on completely removing the clutch fan? or is removing the blades the best we can get?
