Default Motor mounts!

So i want to replace my motor mounts after doing a xfer case drop to reduce some of the vibes from the new engine angle since the xj is my dd. I want to go with the factory rubber to get rid of as much of the shaking as i can. I found these and they look pretty solid http://browndogindustries.com/cu2572...xrubber-1.aspx
What do you guys think? Anyone run these mounts? Will they get rid of those annoying vibes?

look up M.O.O.R. bomb proof mounts too. They might be cheaper.

But either way you are on the right track!

Thanks for the help guys! I sent a pm to ironmanandy. But what is everyones opinion on poly bushings vs factory style rubber bushings? Will the poly atleast get rid of a little of my vibes? My stock mounts are in pretty bad shape so im thinking anything new would help lol. I do like that the iron man mounts are designed to use with t case drops, the 1/4" lift and 5/8" stud hole..

ironman4x4fab.com is his website on which you can order from.

and are you sure it is your motor mounts???

But if they are bad the ironman mounts are only $10 more (when bought in a pain) than factory motor mounts. so that is a good choice.

Also check your tranny mount.

If your motor mounts are bad then you you allow more flex from your tranny mount, maybe making that bad

I just replaced my motor mounts with rubber units from Advance Autoparts. They were $20 a piece and anything was better than my passenger side bad motor mount and drivers side missing motor mount so I didn't have much to lose. I'm actually very pleased with these motor mounts. They hold solid and don't transfer any vibes through the unibody. Definitely something to consider if you aren't doing any hardcore wheeling. I would recommend having another person there to help you with installing the new motor mounts. Getting the hole lined up correctly for the bolt to slide through proved to be much more of a task than I anticipated. Having one person move the motor around while the other tries to put the bolt through is the only logically way I can see it happening. Also, you might want to find all of the ratchet extensions you have available. I used seven extentions to get to one of the bottom bolts on the passenger side; this was much easier than cramming my hand up there. One more thing, be careful of the oil filter and sender as they are pretty close to where you will be working and are very easy to break.

Hope this helps..

i dont like the rubber units. I have them in my cherokee and i am glad they have a warranty... I have gone thru 4 in the last year....

I have a good deal more power out of my motor tho.

also, if you are running bigger tires and you are not regeared your motor wants to move more because you are using more torque to get moving.

You will tear the mounts apart. I think that is my other issue.

Btw Kopecki check your tranny mount. i can almost assure you that your trans mount is bad. if not cracked severely

Yea, my trans mount is tanked, but not terribly worried about replacing it at the moment. Been running it with a bad trans mount for atleast 20k and it's still running strong. Eventually I will get to it, but until then I will work on working out the larger kinks. Thanks for looking out =)

Yes im pretty positive its my motor mounts because i didnt have the vibes until right after dropping the xfer case. I am going to replace the motor mounts and see how bad the vibes are and then see about replacing the tranny mount.

i also have the ironman4x4 ones and cant complain. i was surprised the when the engine was started, it didnt rock back and forth at all, it sits very solid. Just gotta grind the inside of the driver side engine bracket a tiny bit to fit the new mount. The vibes changed, but not in a bad way at all.

Getting vibes only after installing a TC drop would lead me to believe the main problem to be a bad tranny mount. If your motor mounts are bad, then they need to be replaced anyway and it doesn't really matter whether you do the motor or tranny mounts first. Keep in mind, a dryrotted motor mount will "squish" easier causing a loss in power, but I wouldn't see them tranfering vibes through the unibody. A motor mount with missing or severely damaged rubber will transfer vibes easily. Same principle goes for the tranny mount.
