motor mount not lining up
We had a motor mount shear off on the drivers side. We decided to replace both mounts with a set of brown dog mounts. The drivers side went on without a problem. The passengers side is a totally different story. RIght now the engine needs to come about 1.5 inches closer to the mount to get the bolt in. Any ideas what I need to do to make it work?

Did you loosen the transmission mount up?
I replaced my passenger side and didn't have any trouble lining it up - just careful working of the jack up and down until it lined up nicely.
I have heard horror stories about some of the poly mounts being a PITA - folks winching the engine and the such.

Is the other mount already tight?
Didn't the mounts come with instructions?
Browndog is known for their good instructions.

- Mounts slide into original equipment engine brackets, in the identical position as the stock mounts. No trimming or grinding required.
- Engine remains in original stock position. If your old motor mounts were in bad condition, these mounts will return your engine to its stock position.
- Carefully inspect engine bracket for any excess wear, especially cracks. The original brackets weren't designed to handle the strength of these high-performance motor mounts. If brackets show wear, order SU2572-0 which include both Motor Mounts, both Engine Brackets, and all new Grade 8 mounting hardware including new through bolts. However, the left (driver-side) motor mount is identical to the right side in the kit. This makes for a stronger all-around upgrade. If, after you have our "K" series mounts, you need brackets, be sure to call and discuss options. It's always in your best interest to order the brackets and mounts at once and save a few bucks along the way.
- Loosen transmission mount prior to raising engine. Failure to do this will result in excessive vibration after motor mount installation. We recommend replacing transmission mount when replacing motor mounts. However, at a minimum, loosen bolts and carefully inspect for wear.
- Tighten through-bolts (bolt that goes through bracket arms and motor mount) snug. Do not over-tighten through-bolt lock nuts. Air tools should not be used here. Please remember, lock nuts are for one-time use only. If removed, they should be replaced, not re-used.
- These motor mounts will bolt to frame-side brackets in the same position as your original mounts. These bolts should be tightened like most others on your Cherokee or Comanche. Nice and tight.
- If you have any questions during installation or believe a part will not fit, do NOT alter the part. Call Brown Dog, 866 401-3877 or contact us. We have extended support to assist with installation.
Keep us in the loop when you find a solution please.

Followed the instructions. I have a call into brown dog and working on a solution. The drivers side is tight and transmission mount has been loosened. The jeep has a rough country 4.5 inch if that helps any.

Even on stock mounts, I never tighten all the fasteners on one side until all fasteners are in on both sides. Are these poly or rubber?

Loosen everything up a bit including the trans mount. Then try it. I wonder if you're missing one or more of those big bolts that hold the trans mount to the adapter housing between the engine and trans....

When I did my brown dog mounts,, I had to move the motor around with everything kinda loose,,trans mount super loose so I could move the motor around and shove it back into alignment.
I had to muscle mine to the drive side about 1" for it to line up.
