motor issues

Motor just died on me and it only turns over.. acts like it wants to crank but it wont. Any suggestions?

Do you have proper fuel pressure? Do you have a blue spark? Those would be my first things to check.

Im broke down on the side of the road. I gas it and black smoke came out and started running rough and popping and spitting.. then died. Now it just turns over
