moaning at high speeds?
Im getting a loud moaning that starts around 60mph. at least thats when its noticeable. I was thinking wheel bearing, but you would think that would be heard at low speeds as well. Dont have the money to start replacing parts right now. hoping someone had this problem b4. No vibration through the steering wheel or any shake at all. If you put your fingers in your ears it seems fine. lol
Thanks

170k+. i just replaced everything from the cat back. New cat included. You think that could be the problem? The manifold and the front pipe are the only thing left. It does seem to resonate from the front drivers side.

I just put new tires on mine and it's doing this..mine starts at about 30 though..replaced the driver wheel bearing..no fix..went to get an alignment and the shop said my passenger wheel bearing is bad..but that doesn't make sense since the noise comes from the drivers side...im thinking that it is the differential in yours and mine...well yours that is unless you have a bad wheel bearing also lol

start by jacking up the front end. then with hands at 3 and 9, try to wiggle the wheels. if they wiggle, it's wheel bearings.
then get under the jeep with jeep in neutral and wheels chocked, and try to push up on the rear pinion right at the end of the driveshaft.
if it moves up and down, then it's the pinion bearings. you can also see if it moves in and out.
that would definitely make that sound at speeds.

this also reminded me with the checking if the pinion moves...should there be free play in the shaft..(the shaft from tc to differential) mine has about 3/4" movement when parked
