Might be a silly question but
I have a question, how to you make the select-trac system, move from full time 4wd to part time 4wd, the manual pretty much says at any legal speed pull the lever back to the 4hi position, well I did that and all I could get was part-time, what is the trick here?

Here's how the factory suggests you shift the transfer case and I've been doing this since these things were new and I worked at the dealership. Quoted from the owner's manual.
"To engage, shift the transfer case lever from 2H to 4H while the vehicle is moving at any legal speed". I let off the gas, throw the lever, and then tap the gas and let off.
4L position: " To engage, slow the vehicle to 2-3 MPH , shift the transmission to Neutral, then shift the transfer lever to the right and pull firmly rearward to 4L".

Don't be shy. The 242 transfer case you have is a bit more touchy/tempermental than the "part-time" 231. Tapping the gas and letting off is a key thing. And don't worry about the speed. Faster seems better.

Same way usually for me I put the jeep in n at a red light and put it in full time just pulling the lever all the way to that position I use full time all the time if the weather is bad for on road driving...

Go directly to the one you want. Going from PT to FT or vice versa doesn't work well.

Orange and green lights refer to dashboard indicators, I pull the lever back it goes into part time (orange light)=4hi, I am still not grasping how to go into full time 4 hi (green light)

And OP dont be afraid to get a little rough with it, I've drove a few xj's that you basically had to jerk the shifter into 4wd.

I pull back it stops in part time, I move it right it pulls into neutral, no full time option happens, that is why I am asking, if there is a trick, a twist, something
