Mechanic called and said to ditch my jeep
I have a 2001 Cherokee. My mechanic called and told me its time to start saving for a new car. He said I had too many error codes. I'll have them available in a few ours so I can figure out what's up. 135k on the jeep. I still think she has life.

Multiple codes leads me to believe there is a sensor ground issue. Ditch the mechanic.

So apparently I forgot to replace a fuse when I was working on it last weekend and that controlled the aux. fan. Oops. But These are the error codes the got:
P0136 B1S2 O2 sensor
P1491 radiator fan circuit open
P0130 B1S1 O2 sensor heater relay
P0443 evap/purge solenoid
P0700 tranny fault
The tranny fault worries me. I'm pretty broke but would like to address some of these issues. Am I wrong in thinking that the O2 sensors and radiator fan work together on the same fuse?
I'm a little flustered as to where my priorities should be
Thanks
Barry

Barry,
You haven't mentioned anything about "symptoms". Do you have any?
It is critically important to put symptoms together with codes and create a strategy for resolving.

probably not a mechanic..a Technician...only knows how to pull codes and search in their database. real mechanics now are hard to find unfortunately.
but ya, probably just bad sensors or relays.

Does your radiator fan work properly?
And the purge solenoids do go bad..
This sounds like its just been neglected a bit and needs a few things fixed.
Is this what your machanic does a lot?
"well you got 5 different codes.. Time to condemn the whole vehicle..'
Maybe he should just stick to brakes and ditch diagnoses.
LOL

I don't want to dis your mechanic, but I'd post more info here and maybe get a second opinion from another shop just to be safe.
A 4.0 can easily go 300k or more.

I'll tell you this. I have yet to have a vehicle with codes that I haven't been able to figure out and completely resolve. OBD isn't perfect and interpretation of the OBD codes is not always straight forward, but OBD is pretty darn good at pointing you in the right direction and to the circuit that is out of spec.
I enjoy the challenge of figuring out the root cause of codes...........
