Question me in iraq, my jeep is in the shop

My dad is helpin me out taking my 96 xj to the shop to get fixed up. I had them put on a 3.5inch RE superride kit, 3/4 ich spacer up front, SYE, and chrystler rear end outta a 97 with 410 gears. Anyways now they are saying it has a slight vibe on acceleration, and that it will go away within a few thousand miles. I have not heard of this. I just want my jeep on point for when I get home. Are they lying or should I not be caring bout it?

Did they put degree shims under the springs? Could be all it is. Even with the SYE in place it is still picky, angle has to be within 3 degrees I think is the number.

The pinion angle might need a little adjusting to fix the vibes. I would wait a little while on the adjustment, if vibe not real bad, for the springs to settle a little. Is there someone who will drive the rig a little while your away? Either that or store a couple hundred pounds of stuff in the rear.

Yeah I can get my dad to use it as a commuter truck until I get back, and the shop mentioned the weight thing, I was just unsure whether they were tryin to get outta the last part of the job.

Sounds like the shop is being straight with you. SYE alone is not the vibe fix everybody thinks. While it does help with vibes due to the Double Cardin joints being less prone to vibes at sever angles. You still need to adjust the rear pinion to get the angles correct. New springs will sag a little, or settle, that settling will change the pinion angle some. It may be OK as-is, but you may need a shim. The rear pinion should point at or just below, 1-2 deg, the TC output.

Also a lot of ppl dont realise u-joints get used to running at a certain angle, and UNLESS changed it could cause a vibration as well.

like everyone is saying the shop could be right this could just need a little break in to stop the vibe.
