making old rims look new.
Hey guys, and gals I have a set of snow flake aluminium rims that are dull, tarnished and oxidized. They look nice on my jeep but I'd like to make them look newish again and would like to know my options. Can I just sand them down and re clear coat them or just sand down and then
Just polish them? Please help.

I use an old computer stool as a rotating device under the rim.
Orbital sander 1st, then brass wire wheel. Finish with spray can of clear coat.
Runner 24/7/12 and will hold up well for a couple years. Takes about 3 hrs for a set, let dry 24 hrs. Some before and afters. A little gloss black and some spot wire wheeling on the 5 spoke, prevowner did a rough gold job on a set of honeycombs. A little polish and some flat black with a small brush in my Turbine rims. I think your snowflakes would come out awsome.

As a suggestion I think my approach would be a brass wire cup brush turning in an electric drill, do all the face of the web and around the rim diameter. Small brush and colour in the pockets between the web. could overcoat with a spray clear. You can do it all with the tire on. I use one old stool to spin the tire on, another for me to sit. Work in good lighting.
Love to see a couple of pics of what you do decide.
