Lowering Emissions

My jeep failed inspection. The inspection facility said the emissions were too high. Whats a cheap fix?
Thanks for your help

Which emissions were too high, are there any DTC's set??? They either should have told you or gave you a print out

I live in California, and we have smog checks.
Right before I have my '89 XJ (w/ 180+K Mi.) tested, I replace the air filter element and give the engine a tune-up...but most importantly, I have the oil changed IMMEDIATELY before the test...yes, at the Oil Changers a block away from the smog test place.
HTH!

That doesn't help me too much, did they give you a readout on the gasses and what the reading were in ppm (parts per million) or whichever measurement they use? ex. If your HC (hydrocarbons) are too high, that will indicate a misfire and/or an extremely rich running condition.

make sure your cat and your o2 sensor are both good. and then before you take it in make sure the jeep is fully warmed up.
