lower control arm replacement
I have a 1999 XJ classic with a 4.0 Dana 30 front axle and I am trying to replace the front lower control arms and the nuts are frozen fast, tried heat spayed multiple times with PB Blaster and tried an impact and still won't budge. Can i just cut the bolts off and use grade 8 hardware to replace the ones i cut off? Please help! :surrender:

Go for it. They can be a pita to cut though.
|
Any suggestions on how else i could get them off?

PB blaster, heat, and a big *** breaker bar.

How do you have the Jeep supported???
|
supported by jack stands on frame rails and axle with jack

Full weight of xj on springs keeps thing from binding up...jm2cw

When you tighten the down to spec you should have the wheels on ground. Keeps the bushings from binding.

I did my LCA with Jeep on ground. I used a battery Impact gun. Took some effort but they did come out |
I'll give it a try tomorrow morning and will keep you all posted! Thanks!!!
