low rpm at startup
Hope someone can help. I have a 97 xj with the 4.0. Two weeks ago my xj wouldn't start unless i had my foot on the gas pedal. Otherwise it was a few lumpy idles and it would die. I removed the throttle body and cleaned it... (it was VERY dirty) replaced the gasket and iac. It started great for a few days...now about every third or fourth start it starts very weak. By that i meen it cranks fine but when it starts rpms go to about 250 and after a few seconds go back to normal idle. It drives fine after that. Its just a start up issue. Cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, and coil only have about 25k on them...and fuel pressure checks out just fine. I suspect the new iac may be the issue but im unsure. Any info is much appreciated.

The recommended interval for plugs, wires, cap and rotor is 30,000 miles.
Pull a plug and have a look at it's brand name and gap.
