low idle speed and engine is knocking

Engine: 2.5. 4 cylinder in-line

low idle speed and engine is knocking

my engine idle speed was only at 500rpm, it was knocking and cannot maintain the rpm when i kick the gas pedal. if the engine was not good already can i fit pajero engine into the xj gearbox?
