Loud hum/vibration noise
Hey guys I'm new to this forum thing but I could use some help. My 2000 Jeep Cherokee sport has a loud him/buzz noise that seem to come somewhere from the rear end of the vehicle not 100% sure though. It almost sounds like I am on a rumble strip. It happens at about 45 mph and up and seems to be cause only when the wind is blowing from the driver side to the passenger side but this could be a mis coralation. I say this because it would t do it if it is not windy and only happens when the wind is blowing in that direction. I don't believe it is my rear did because it is intermittent and I have no other signs of a bad diff. I have checked every external part that moves to see if there is any interference but I can see anything out of the ordinary. Could this just be the wind causing a loose body piece to vibrate or a door seal gone bad? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!🙏

Possibly a loose exhaust heat shield? Transmission mount could be bad. Hard to guess this over the internet

Find a smooth piece of lonely road... get to the speed it vibrates... slip it into neutral and see if it only happens under a load, or all the time. Get back to us.

If you're convinced its a wind related noise, how rusty is the Jeep?
If its a rust bucket, could be rusted out metal somewhere flapping in the wind?
While you're checking the heat shield, also tap the cat converter and muffler and listen for any loose internal parts in them.
I had a new muffler installed on my 2000 way back when. At around 2000 rpm, the dam thing loudly howled and vibrated enough to dam near shake the whole Jeep. Must of been something loose internally in that muffler.
