Loud Hollow clicking noise?????
Hi I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 Please Help!!!! When Jeep is on hill and stopped when I hit the gas there is a loud clicking noise... It sounds as if something is hitting the oil pan or something as the noise is a hollow click. Also makes the noise when driving up hill and hit rough road the clicking noise will happen..... Other than the noise jeep runs fine, quick acceleration, engine makes no noise .... The click is coming from the undercarriage.... Anyone here got any idea or had this happen to thier jeep???????????? Please help....

It can be a number of things. If your having the noise under acc it most likely drive train...more specifically u-joints. The one thing that throws that off is when you say you hear it going over bumps. That would be suspension related but you could have two separate issue going on. For the clicking on acc I would check you u-joints. Jack your truck up and look for play in all of your u joints. As far as loud hollow noises over bumps that could be any number of bushings upper lower arms, coil spring isolater, or even shocks to name a few.
