loud fans? i dunno...
I went to pittsburgh today and got stuck in traffic and it was very hot outside. When i arrived at my destination (buddy's place), he came out and asked if i was revving the motor before i shut it off and i said no. It was running loud and he said it sounded like the fans were running a bit loud. Are they supposed to run hard like that? RPMS were normal so i know it wasn't the motor revving.

They can be noisy but you should check to see if it has lost one of the top bolts securing the fan to the front header panel. Also check that the bearing isn't going out on the fan. Mudd if the fan is bad then upgrade to a late style fan off of a later XJ they are quieter and more efficent.
