Default Lost Tranny Dipstick 99 XJ 4WD 8.25

I plan on making a new one out of a thin little piece of metal instead of wasting a few hundred on an oem one from jeep. Can anyone measure the length from min/max line to top on their 99 xj 4wd chrysler 8.25 diff so I can add the lines to the new dipstick?

Thank YOU!

P.s. Search function has been well used for this subject.

OEM part number is 52104146, but it is a discontinued part so no luck from a dealer.

If you get one from the bone yard get it from a 1998 thru 2001 XJ. Previous years are a different part number so I assume are a different dipstick.

I didn't check Evilbay but you might want to give it a try.

Edit: Here ya go. I don't think this one will break the bank.

$2.95 at my local Pull-a-Part. Well, okay, $4.95 when you consider the $2 entry fee.

My local pull-a-part only has one 1998-01 jeep cherokee XJ like mine, the majority of which (including tranny dipstick) has been scavenged (mostly by me), although it twas a good thought. I was going to go to Evilbay as a last resort, as I have long pieces of thin steel lying all around my shop from various projects... Thanks for the ideas though guys!

Craigslist or eBay or if you want a new one Summit or Jegs. Even the jeep order houses offer ones and none of these options are cost a factor.

As a last resort if nothing were available would I make something in my shop for a dipstick.

Fred, that's what he wants to do. You have a 99, maybe measure it for him?
