Which light switch are we talking about? Dome light, headlights, fog lights?

sorry, i meant the headlights. The stock headlight switch doesn't seem to be working. My parking lights will go on, but not the headlights. The brights will go on if i pull the lever, but they wont stay on, I have to drive at night with my hand holding the bright lever. I just want to bypass that whole system and put a toggle witch to turn on my parking and headlights. Don't even need brights as I have procomp 130's.

So is this do-able, or should I just try to find a headlight switch and hope that fixes the problem?

Thanks.

Oh, it's a 1991 Cherokee Laredo.

ya get a heavy duty switch and a wiring diag and splice it in

vande 11-17-2010 10:06 PM

Dont have a wiring diagram...would it be hard to figure out by looking under the dash?

Z400Rider 11-17-2010 10:10 PM

What kind of cherokee is it? laredo, limited, sport, briarwood or a simple cherokee? I can get you a wiring diagram.

The wiring will be the same for each trim level. Chrysler used one wiring harness for each model no matter what options each vehicle was equipped with. It made more sense to keep one part number in stock at the factory than to have dozens of configurations for so many options. If it is worth repairing then do it right and don't create an electrical nightmare for yourself later on. Try a new headlight switch or even one from a junkyard and check all the related fuses and relays before mutilating the wiring.
