Default Lift Questions

Hey fellas,

Ive got a couple of quick questions. I have a 94' Cherokee, 3 in. lift, and 30 in. tires. I have already changed the trac bar. I have an old set of spacers and shackles from daystar that i started with. 1.75 in. spacer and 1 in. shackle. I want to put these on top of the 3 in. lift to get approximately 5 in. of lift. I want to run 32 to 33 in. tires. I know that i will problably have to address the brake lines and bump stops. But what about the control arms? Will they be the right length to keep the axle centered under the truck correctly? Is there anything that i am missing?
Any info is greatly appreciated.

Since you center of gravity of the Jeep would be 5 inches taller then you would loose 5 inches of travel of your stock control arms. This would result in your arms hittings your mounts for your shocks/springs the higher your lift is and your wheels/axle is pulled back towards your wheel well openings and cause rubbing only on the back side of the wheel wells because of the control arms being in the same location and length. You can get control arm drop brackets or a long arm kit. But the bracket kit is only about $200 vs. the $700 long arm conversion. But the long arm results in a better ride.

Ok, i hadnt thought about that but i understand what you are saying. Do you think that I will be able to get away with a 33x10.50 tire? What kind of flex can I expect from the drop brackets? Also If I were to buy longer control arms or perhaps a set of adjustable sontrol arms wouldnt that work too?, or would they still hit the spring mounts?

You might have to do some fender trimming to fit 33's. And they sell just longer control arms, about a +2 difference with an angle to avoid the bumping on the spring mounts but I don't know if they would be effective with a 5" lift. I put longer control arms on mine but I only had a 3" lift. But if you would buy a long arm kit, you would be relocating your control arm brackets further back on your frame to create a less severe angle for the arms themselves and thus having created much more flex.
