would i be able to install a bolt on lift kit with out any experience?

would i need a lot of (expensive) special tools?

no its not hard its pretty straight forward, and no no expensive tools (required) air tools help tremendously!!!!! wrenches, jacks, jack stands, PB Blaster, WD-40, ect....

these jeeps are probably one of the easier vehicles to lift it takes only hand tools although air tools help out alot and jack and jack stands depending on what size lift you end up doing you may need a coil spring compressor id did a 3 inch with no compressor but it will make things easier make sure to spray every bolt with pb blaster or equivilent for 2-3 days before attempting to do the lift

i did a 4.5 without a spring compressor

the hardest thing is to stay motivated, especially by day 2 and your arms and wrists feel like they are gonna burst:( (I have no air!) and I did it alone.
try and have a buddy help you, bribe him with beer or something:icon_lol:

They do help tho. Just jack one end till its stuffed, tighten down the compressors, and then drop the axle end down slowly, the spring will almost fall right out. However if your replacing the LCA's the axle will be low enough anyway :thumbsup:

depending on the year and your weather conditions i'd look into borrowing someones torches to. You'd be surprised what heat can do to rusted bolts. Took me and a buddy 2 days to do my 4.5 lift with torches and air and no spring compressor. Like fallennight said... stay motivated.. thats the hardest part. o and have lots of beer and patience!!!

All you need are basic hand tools, floor jack, 2 jack stands a cheater bar or breaker bar, can of PB Blaster and patience.

Most lift kits come with straight forward instructions. Main thing is read through them and know what parts are what and where they go. Check to make sure you have all the proper sized sockets and wrenches before going forward. Reading the directions will tell you which bolts will be coming off and which ones you need to check size with.

the only thing i would highly recommend is a torch. some bolts need to be heated if you dont want to break them. also the leaf spring bolts have a tendancy to seize up and often times need to be cut off with the torch

Yeah heat torch is a nice tool. I was just listed the very basic tools you need. Although I think anyone who works on n vehicles should have a basic hand held heat torch..:)
