Hi - just picked up a 2000 Sport in phenomenal condition, albeit with high miles (188k). The only feature not working was the rear window defroster so I dug into it yesterday. Fixed the broken power wire in the wire bundle that goes from the body to the rear lift gate, and after re-assembling everything the red warning light for the rear gate being open is lit.

Can anyone tell me where that sensor is located in the rear gate? Hopefully I did not break another wire in that bundle! It was NO FUN working on that thing!

You will find it on the locking mechanism at the base
